Chainix Raw

One-Knob FX Chain

"Run your sound through a whole curated rack — saturation, glue, width, delay, and reverb space — all scaled together and level-matched. Zero-latency."

Chainix Raw is the free, one-knob version of Chainix. A single CHAIN macro drives a fixed, level-matched rack — saturation, glue compression, stereo width, delay, and reverb space — all scaled together, so your sound just gets bigger without a volume jump. Free forever, signed and notarized for macOS.

WHAT IT DOES

Chainix Raw runs your sound through a whole curated rack — the same FX engine from the full Chainix. Warm Tape saturation, glue compression, stereo width, a touch of delay, and reverb space all open together as you turn one knob. The rack is level-matched as it opens, so it just gets bigger, never just louder. Zero-latency, so it sits anywhere in your chain.

THE CHAIN KNOB

CHAIN is a single macro that scales the whole rack together. At low settings you get gentle warmth and glue. Push it and saturation, width, delay, and reverb all ramp up in proportion — front-loaded so the early travel is musical. The rack stays level-matched as it opens — each module's mix and a gentle output trim hold the loudness steady — so your A/B comparison is honest.

UNDER THE HOOD

Fixed signal chain — the macro runs a set order every block: Saturate, then Compress, then Chorus width, then a tempo-synced slap Delay, then Reverb space, all scaled together from the one value.

Warm saturation and glue — a Tape-mode tanh waveshaper with a tape roll-off warms the signal, while a peak-detecting glue compressor with automatic makeup is driven in parallel by the macro.

DC blocker and safety ceiling — a 5 Hz high-pass runs on the output, followed by a tanh soft ceiling clamped for 0 dBFS-ish safety, plus NaN/Inf guarding that resets DSP state if non-finite output is detected.

Zero latency — no oversampling, no look-ahead, no FFT, so reported latency is a constant 0 samples and the plugin sits anywhere in the chain without delaying the signal.

One knob, hidden targets — only CHAIN appears in the host automation list; every internal chain amount (Drive, Glue, Width, Delay, Space, Mix, Output, Bypass) is wrapped as non-automatable but still saved and restored with plugin state.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Chainix Raw free?

Yes. Chainix Raw is completely free — freeware, no trial, no nag screens, no expiration.

What does the CHAIN knob do?

CHAIN is a macro that runs your sound through a whole curated rack at once — warm saturation, glue compression, stereo width, a touch of delay and reverb space — all scaled together and front-loaded. The rack is level-matched as it opens, so it just gets bigger, with no volume jump.

How is Chainix Raw different from Chainix (Pro)?

Chainix Raw gives you the curated FX rack behind a single, level-matched CHAIN knob. The full Chainix lets you reorder all 8 modules, dial every effect by hand, add bit-crush and noise, and includes the Hex Pad performance controller, macros, and factory presets.

Does Chainix Raw add latency?

No. Chainix Raw is zero-latency — no oversampling, no look-ahead — so it sits anywhere in your chain without delaying the signal.

Does Chainix Raw support Apple Silicon?

Yes. Chainix Raw is a Universal Binary that runs natively on Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) and Intel Macs.

Can I automate Chainix Raw?

Yes — CHAIN is the single host-automatable control, so you can automate the whole rack from one lane. Every internal chain amount (Drive, Glue, Width, Delay, Space, Mix, Output, Bypass) is wrapped as a hidden, non-automatable parameter driven by the macro, so the host automation list stays clean.

Do I need the Pro version?

No. Chainix Raw is a complete, free, working plugin — one CHAIN knob runs a full level-matched FX rack. The full Chainix just adds more control: reorderable modules, hands-on dialing of every effect, bit-crush and noise, the Hex Pad controller, macros, and factory presets.
