Scatterit

Transient Glitch Slicer

"Reacts to your audio, not a clock. Detects transients and randomly reverses, pitch-shifts, and stutters each slice."

Scatterit listens for transients — a drum hit, a vocal onset, any loud moment — captures that slice, and rolls the dice to play it forward, reversed, pitched, stuttered, or replaced with your own one-shot. Because every slice is probability-driven and reacts to the actual signal, the result is organic, living glitch that never feels grid-locked. Signed and notarized for macOS as AU, VST3, and Standalone.

FEATURES

Core Engine

Audio-reactive transient detection responds to actual musical dynamics, not a fixed clock
Three detection modes — Spectral Flux (FFT onset), Envelope Peak, and Envelope RMS
Five effect modes — Forward, Reverse, Pitch, Stutter, and Sample Replace, each with its own probability weight
Probability engine — set the overall chance a slice gets an effect, plus a refractory time to space out triggers and Stutter repeats of 2x, 4x, 8x, or 16x

Triggering

Multi-band triggering — a Linkwitz-Riley 4th-order (24 dB/oct) crossover splits the signal so you can arm Low, Mid, and High bands independently with adjustable Low and High crossover points
Sidechain triggering — fire slices from an external input with a Ghost Offset that advances or delays trigger timing by up to ±20 ms
Detection Listen — solo the trigger signal to dial in detection exactly
Adjustable Threshold, Sensitivity, envelope Attack/Release, plus Slice Smooth and Max Slice length to keep captures clean

Samples & Harmony

Drag-and-drop one-shot replacement (WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, OGG) with folder-cycle options, random and lock
RMS-normalized sample replace — dropped one-shots are level-matched (target −18 dBFS) so replacements sit consistently in the mix
Harmonic alignment — snap pitched slices to a Project Key and Scale (Chromatic, Major, Minor, Phrygian, Dorian, Mixolydian, Harmonic Minor, Pentatonic) with a Dissonance amount
Preset save/load — export and recall .scatteritpreset files, including the replacement sample path

Performance & Presets

Stasis mode — freeze the scatter engine into a sustained textural state
Freeze Slice — press-and-hold to loop the last captured slice, designed for live performance
Dice & Randomize — re-roll the mode weights or randomize the whole engine, plus a Seed Lock for reproducible (or live-jam) patterns and a reseed control
15 factory presets, A/B comparison, dry/wet Mix, Output trim, and instant Bypass

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Scatterit free?

No — Scatterit is a paid plugin, a one-time purchase with no subscription. Prefer to start free? Scatterit Raw gives you the core glitch-slicer engine behind a single knob at no cost.

How is Scatterit different from a beat-repeat or grid slicer?

Scatterit reacts to your audio, not a clock. It detects transients — a drum hit, a vocal onset, any loud moment — and rolls the dice on each captured slice. Because every effect is probability-driven and tied to the actual signal, the glitch feels organic and never grid-locked.

What can Scatterit do to each slice?

Five effect modes: Forward, Reverse, Pitch, Stutter, and Sample Replace — each with its own probability weight. Stutter offers 2x, 4x, 8x, or 16x repeats, and Sample Replace swaps a slice for your own dropped one-shot.

Can I use my own samples?

Yes. Drag and drop a WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, or OGG one-shot to replace slices, with folder-cycle options (random and lock). Dropped samples are RMS-normalized to a −18 dBFS target so replacements sit consistently in the mix.

Can I keep pitched slices in key?

Yes. Harmonic alignment snaps pitched slices to a Project Key and Scale — Chromatic, Major, Minor, Phrygian, Dorian, Mixolydian, Harmonic Minor, or Pentatonic — with an adjustable Dissonance amount for controlled tension.

Does Scatterit support Apple Silicon?

Yes. Scatterit is a Universal Binary that runs natively on Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) and Intel Macs, as AU, VST3, and Standalone.
